ARTIST STATEMENT
Chrissy’s empathy with the Sussex landscape is plainly visible in her work. She builds towards a visual harmony, full of energy and the marks of the artist. Working mainly in oils she explores the physical properties of the paint, scraping off layers, sanding and re-application of paint and marks. “The effects achieved in the progress of the work show what has gone before, the evolution of change both in the work and the landscape.” Importance is placed on portraying the personality and emotion of the artist rather than creating a replication of the landscape.
